NELSON brought their 20th Anniversary Tour to China performing for over 15,000 fans in China on July 18 at the Holisland Rock Festival in Suzhou. Matthew & Gunnar Nelson performed with new superstar lead guitarist Mark Slaughter and guitar virtuoso Neil Zaza at this world-reknowned rock festival event. Matthew and Gunnar enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience. Chinese Photographer Hu Haichuancaptured some great photos of the live concert performance. Check them out in this photo gallery.

Matthew & Gunnar Nelson brought the NELSON 20th Anniversary Tour along with superstar lead guitarist Mark Slaughter to perform to a packed house! Nelson Kicked Off 20th Anniversary Tour at the M3 Rock Festival
Icon vs Icon The M3 Rock Festival made its triumphant return to Columbia, MD on June 19th and once again featured a great lineup of eighties rock bands. The skies were clear and the temperatures would climb into the nineties by mid-afternoon but the heat could not stop rock n’ roll! For many, the party started as soon as they touched down in the parking lot of Meriweather Post Pavilion. In 2009 ’80s-influenced fashion began popping up on the runway and ’80s hair bands took to the stage at Merriweather Post Pavilion for the inaugural M3 Rock Festival. On Saturday the festival returned to MPP with 14 bands on two stages, 11 hours of headbangers and power ballads, and quite a few examples of tattoo regret. The Scorpions invited Vince Neil on stage for “Another Piece of Meat” and Nelson recruitedMark Slaughter (of Slaughter) to play lead guitar.
Nelson’s multi-platinum debut album After the Rain was released in 1990 by Geffen Records and include chart topping hits “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection” and the album’s title track. The melodic rock band is fronted by Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, twins with exquisite vocal harmonies and an affinity for mixing tender lyrics with a powerful pop rock sound.
Nelson is currently celebrating their 20th anniversary with a summer festival tour. I recently spoke to Gunnar Nelson about the tour and their new album, The Blond Leading the Blond.
June 7, 2010 – Celebrity rockers Matthew & Gunnar Nelson announced multi-platinum rock star frontman and lead guitarist Mark Slaughter (Slaughter, Vinnie Vincent Invasion) will join their band NELSON as lead guitarist for the NELSON 20th Anniversary Tour. NELSON is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the release of their international multi-platinum debut classic album “AFTER THE RAIN”.
NELSON will headline several upcoming major rock festival events including the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, MD on June 19; Thunder Mountain RockFest inSawyer, ND July 9; and The FireFest in Nottingham, England U.K. Oct. 31 as part of the NELSON 20th Anniversary Tour.
“Mark Slaughter has widely been acknowledged worldwide as one of the best rock singers in the business for decades…but not enough people know what a fine lead guitarist Mark is, and always has been. This tour is going to change that,” said Gunnar Nelson. “NELSON is lucky to have such an amazing addition to our band for the 20th Anniversary Tour. It’s definitely going to ROCK!”
