BUFORD — When twin brothers Gunnar and Matthew Nelson hit the scene in 1990 with their album “After The Rain,” they were singing hits like “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection” and the title song “After The Rain.” Twenty years later, the men have cut their long locks, toured the world and recently recorded the follow-up album to the 90s record called “Lightning Strikes Twice.” The two perform at 37 Main on Wednesday, promoting their latest endeavor.

When Nelson came off of the “After The Rain” tour in 1991, grunge had become popular and the two weren’t able to create a follow-up record.

“We were not afforded the opportunity because of grunge, so (this album) is personal to me,” Gunnar Nelson said. “It was one of those things. I had the record inside me … we needed to make a record like it was 1994 again.”

Besides working on “Lightning Strikes Twice,” Nelson has been playing a hundred shows a year around the world.

“We’ve been touring like crazy,” he said with a laugh. “We’re a little busy.”

After all of these years, the men enjoying seeing the fans who have grown up with them.

It’s kind of a mind scramble to see the females coming (to the concerts) with their daughters who used to come see us as teens, but we watched our dad (Ricky Nelson) go through the same thing,” Gunnar Nelson said. “It’s great to play for people from ages 80 to 8 that come to the show.”

One thing is for sure: the men are happy where they are now and love the music they are producing.

“Solid music never goes out of style,” Nelson said. “You can come to our show for a few hours and forget your troubles.”

NASHVILLE, TN (July 14, 2011) – Celebrity rock super group SCRAP METAL announced John Corabi former lead singer of MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE SCREAM and UNION will join them as special guest star performing at the upcoming SCRAP METAL summer rock concert event at the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den in Uncasville, CT on Friday, August 5, 2011.

SCRAP METAL, the celebrity rock super group whose members have sold over 50 million records worldwide, was co-founded by Nashville rockers Gunnar Nelson (Nelson /“Love and Affection”) and Mark Slaughter (Slaughter / “Fly to the Angels”).  The August 5^th summer rock event will star twin lead front men Matthew & Gunnar Nelson (NELSON / “After the Rain”); Joe Lynn Turner former lead singer of DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW; and Janet Gardner former lead singer of the all-girl rock band (VIXEN / “Cryin”, “Edge of a Broken Heart“).

Since the rock’n’roll rat pack’s motto is you can never have too many guitars, the summer concert event will feature double lead guitars with both guitar virtuosos Howie Simon (ALCATRAZ) and Neil Zaza sharing double-duty on-stage. Rounding out the Scrap Metal musical guest stars will be drummer Bobby Rock (NELSON / VINNIE VINCENT INVASION); and Todd Rogers on keyboard.
